Trail Report
Posted August 18, 2010
Summer trail users should be aware of the following:
- you are in bear country so take normal precautions
- trails are not maintained so you may encounter fallen trees, rocks, and other natural hazards
- be alert for motorized vehicles - they are not allowed but there is no way to eliminate them
- the ski club is not responsible for trail safety during the non skiing season so use the trails at your own risk
The trails and Mt McIntyre Rec Centre are shared by the following groups during the summer season:
- Disc Golf Yukon
- Yukon Orienteering Association
- Contagious Mountain Bike Club
- Whitehorse Free Ride Park
- Yukon Trail Runners
- Athletics Yukon
- Tennis Yukon
- 24 Hours of Light Mountain Bike Race
New single track trails have been developed during July and August. Thanks to Katimavik, City of Whitehorse and Contagious Mountain Bike Club for their work. Two new trails are parallel to Upper Valley and Logan Burn trails and provide awesome views of the McIntyre wetlands and Logan Burn. Another new trail has been developed between Powerline and World Cup 10K.
The new trails, which will be excellent for snowshoeing as well as mountain bikiing, will be marked on the club map, being revised in September.
Trail Report will be updated occassionally.
