Officiating Courses
Cross Country Yukon provides training for volunteers who would like to organize races or assist at races. The courses are hosted by the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club and are free of charge. Members of other affiliated clubs are welcome to attend and may be eligible for reimbursement of travel costs through Cross Country Yukon.

Officials training is not mandatory to help at club races. But training will help volunteers to enjoy their role as they will understand better the overall race organization. The Level 1 course will provide an overview of race organization. Level 2 training provides the knowledge for taking on a major role such as Chief of Race or Chief of Timing.
To become a certified Official, participants must volunteer at club races. Requirements for each level will be provided at the workshops.
Level 1 Officials (part 1 of 2)
Level 1 training will be divided into two sessions. Topics covered will be:
- race organization charts
- race formats
- start/finish routines
- hand timing
- introduction to Zone 4 which is the race timing software
- course grooming
- course marking
- rules
- Technical Delegate Role and discussion of minor officials' roles

Held in Mt Mac Grey Mountain Room.
Zone 4 Workshop for Timers
Held in the Timing Hut in the Ski Stadium.
The workshop will introduce participants to the race management software, Zone 4. Anybody with basic computer skills can easily learn the program.

Level 1 Officials (part 2 of 2)
This is a continuation of the Level 1 Officials course. It is not essential to attend both sessions, but to be certified as a Level 1 Official you must attend both. Volunteers for the 2010 Nationals will be encouraged to get Level 1 certification.
Held in the Mt Mac Grey Mountain Room.

Level 2 Officials
The Level 2 Officials workshop will be open to any certified Level 1 Officials. Level 2 certification is required to be a Chief of Race for club races such as the Yukon Championships. And it will be required for all Chiefs at the 2010 Nationals.
