NorthwesTel Yukon Loppet
… A great annual event with a different twist for this special Haywood Nationals year! The 27th Annual Northwestel Yukon Loppet is set for March 6, 2010 in between the Olympic Winter Games and the Haywood Nationals.
The 2010 NorthwesTel Yukon Loppet is a great opportunity for cross country skiers to have fun and enjoy the beautiful, Yukon outdoors. Using the trails at the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club, the Loppet offers fabulously groomed tracks that cater to novice, intermediate or experienced skiers. For 2010 there are 4 distances: 30, 20, 7.5 or 3 km. All courses offer challenges and great views of the mountains around Whitehorse. Skiers wanting a longer outing are welcome to ski two laps of the 20K.
This year’s mass start will be a giant gathering in the Ski Stadium between 10:30am and 11am. Skiers may depart any time after the 11am Start! Please note: There will only be one feed station for this year's Loppet located at Crossroads (Harvey's Hut). There will not be a feed station above the gravel pit for 30 K skiers.
Because of the huge volunteer effort required for the 2010 Nationals, this year’s Loppet will be a no-frills event. Instead, the sponsor and organizers are challenging all club members and non-members alike to make this the largest ski outing that the club has ever hosted.
Do You Want To Volunteer?
Would you like to help organize the 2010 Loppet? We are looking for a few volunteers to help with this year's event. We are looking for some bib collectors and some volunteers to work at the one feed station at Harvey's Hut. Help is also required for the post-loppet lunch. Volunteers will receive the annual keepsake souvenir and a lunch ticket. Please contact the ski club if you can lend a hand. All volunteers should be able to take part in the Loppet as well.
